Since the Dashboard is the first screen you see when you log into WordPress, it is important to understand what it all can do for you and the best way to get the most out of it.
The Dashboard gives you a quick overview of what is happening on your site. It allows you to:
- See who is linking to you.
- How popular your content has been.
- View draft posts.
- A place that you can leave important information that can be seen by everyone that helps create your site.
We will discuss some of the common screens displayed on the Dashboard.
At a Glance
The “At a Glance” screen allows you to see the number of your blog’s posts, pages, and comments, as well as your theme and spam. Click on any of the links to see more on that topic, learn about Akismet, or see the comments in your spam queue.
Activity
The “Activity” screen makes working with recent comments quick and easy by providing links to them. It also provides links to the most recently published posts or pages.
You can hover your mouse over a comment on this screen for a menu to appear, allowing you to:
- Approve/Unapprove
- Reply
- Edit
- See the History
- Mark as Spam
- Move it to the Trash
By clicking “Reply”, you can respond to the comment right from the Dashboard.
Welcome To (Your Site)
This is a welcome screen to all the people that are helping you build your site. It has links to training videos and also has a place at the bottom for you to enter the sizes of images used throughout your site. It is important to keep this information updated. Make sure everyone adding content to your site is aware to look for information in this place.
If you need assistance adding content to this Welcome screen, contact your Account Director.
