All in One SEO

SEO is all about optimizing your site so that search engines such as Google rank your content highly for specific search terms. A well constructed title and description of your page are helpful in getting your page found in a search. You cannot force search engines to use the information you give them in their search display, sometimes they decide to display their own copy from the content on the page, but it is important to try to influence them to use the content you want the user to see, which will hopefully improve your chances of having your page visited. All in One SEO allows you to do that.

Each page or post will have an All in One SEO box at the bottom of the editor screen. Fill in the search engine title and the description you want to be displayed by the search engine for this page.

Preview Snippet

The Preview Snippet shows you how search engines might display your page/post in a search. If you edit the Title and Description settings in the fields below the Preview Snippet and click Publish or Update, the Preview Snippet will be updated to reflect your new Title and Description.

Page Title

When you create a page or post, you give it a title. This title is what is used by search engines to find this page/post. All in One SEO allows you to try to change the title that the search engine sees so that it is easiest to find. (For example: If you title your page “ABC & Partners” it doesn’t give the search engines much to go by in terms of understanding how to find this page. However, if you change the SEO title to be “ABC & Partners Plumbing and Heating” then the search engines can now add your page to a number of searches for both plumbing and heating.) All in One SEO also is great to help trim back a long title to make it more search friendly as well (For example: If you title your page “The benefits of hiring ABC & Partners when doing your plumbing or heating” you could use All in One SEO to try to have the search engines only see the title “ABC & Partners Plumbing and Heating Benefits”). It is important to remember to keep your SEO title to 60 characters or less as Google will only display the first 60 characters. Also, to avoid penalties by search engines, make sure that each SEO title on your site is unique and that there are no duplicates.

Page Description

Likewise, the search engines will automatically pull a few lines of copy from the content on your page to put in a description field below your page title for their search display. All-In-One SEO allows you to try to create a description that the search engine will use instead, enabling you to try to control exactly what content the user is seeing. It is important to remember to keep your SEO description to 160 characters or less as Google will only display the first 160 characters. Likewise, to avoid penalties by search engines, make sure that each SEO description on your site is unique and that there are no duplicates.
