Samples of tested tools & code that are ADA compliant.
When we perform an audit, we use the most current Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE) for testing and strive to follow the WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines throughout the site to give it as close to an ADA compliant status as we can. Never tell the client that their site is 100% compliant or claim that it is on the website.

Content – Watch for these issues:
- Phone Numbers: Be sure all phone numbers are styled consistent and made clickable
- Add this code <a href=”tel:18005555555“>1-800-555-5555</a>
- Links: Links should be underlined and an unique color on the site. If it is not underlined, it is ok as long as the links are styled different from the rest of the content (Example: bold itallic)
- Links should also be able to make sense when read on their own – do not use “Read More” Or “Click Here”
- Links must always have the extension added if they link to a document (Example: Download Our Newsletter (pdf) OR Download Our Newsletter (doc))
- Images: Always add a descriptive alt text to all images added. If the image is not needed to understand the content, use “” for the alt text so that screen readers will skip it. Try to be very descriptive. (Example: “young girl building a sand castle at sunset on the beach”, not just “girl”)
- If an image is used to explain content such as an image of postcard with details of an event, there must also be text that explains the same thing or a link to a page with text explaining the same thing.
- Color: Make sure that there is enough color contrast by using the color checkers above
